Default Seatbelt charm

Hey guys. I know this is probably a question that has been answered a thousand times, but I just can't find it when I do a search. Does anybody know how to turn that stupid seatbelt charm off? I have a 2003 Mustang GT. I did a search on it and some people said that there were instructions in the manual that shows how to disable it. Only problem is, I don't have a manual. Thanks for all the help!!!

In your owners manual it tells you, something like turn on key, fasten and unfasten belt three times, turn headlights on then off, wait for seatbelt light to blink then buckle and unbuckle again. NO JOKE.

BeltMinder activation and deactivation
procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON)
position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off.
(Approximately 1–2 minutes.)
• Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds
or the procedure will have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times,
ending with the safety belt unbuckled. This can be
done before or during BeltMinder warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the
parklamps/headlamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times,
ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
• After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be
turned on for three seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning
light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety
belt.
• This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently
enabled, or enable BeltMinder if it is currently
disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided
by the safety belt warning light flashing four times
per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided
by:
• The safety belt warning light flashing four times
per second for three seconds.

Seatbelts aren't required in the state I'm from. Since they aren't required by law, nobody wears them. I've gone 21 years of my live without these belts and I'm in no hurry to start. I just don't like the feeling of the belt around me at all times. If i'm driving in really bad weather or racing I'll put it on, but for normal every day driving.......its just not for me.

required or not, savingyour life is worth it... that stupid annoying bell is the only thing that keeps my seat belt fastened and helps ensure my little girl will have me always and ensures my wife is less likely to be a widow...

the only thing cooler than watching to lesbians is being involved with your wife and her friend from time to time..

GIGGATY GIGGATY GIGGATY!!!!!!!!!!!! yes, i know i am fortunate.

Sonic,

Actually, Cutting the wires may provide a problem. The seatbelt circuit works in conjuction with the GEM module which controls some parts of ABS & all of the airbag deployment functions as well. Believe it or not, under impact the seatbelt receivers actually fire and lock down pulling the belt tighter. I am not talking about locking up like when you apply the brakes hard, but it actually first like a .22 would inside the latch recepticle. Hard to explain..I am not positive this works on the 99 Mustang, but all this happens on the new models. Your best bet would be to find some male seatbelt pieces out of a junker and latch them in place. This would of course fool the system into thinking your belt. If you do cut the wires, make sure you ground them to each other.

Hey, I pulled into a Wendy's drive-thu the other day and un-did my seatbelt to get to my wallet and I forgot to fasten it back. Then on my drive home I didn't hear anything, I wonder why. But anyways always wear your seatbelt, you never know when an old man like me might pull out in front of you.
