Default do no cats make that big a diffrence?

I read a ls1 magazine once and it said that going from a high flow cat to a straight pipe only offered a few horsepower diffrence. I was wondering if anyone her has gone from high flow cats to midpipe and noticed a diffrience. Im just curious if anyone has experinence with this? I know no cats are cheaper but i wanna stay legal

offroad pipes only offer maybe 1 HP over a Highflow cat due to technology these days... but offroad sounds alot better in most cases.

Go with offroad and get your car privately inspected.
If you plan on adding other mods or exterior design items (such as tints) your car is going to be 1/2 illegal anyway. It's worth paying a local guy $50 every 2-3 years whatever inspection dates are to pass your car instead of going through all the "is this legal?" hassle.

My car is 1/2 illegal already with some of the exterior designs and accessories, and its not going to become any more legal when I add my full exhaust system with an o/r pipe. Plus the noise is going to be ridiculously loud, so that sure doesnt help. But thats all the fun

Your kind of over looking the fact that different states have different laws and ways of inspecting cars. While yes technicly tint is illegal in most states, it does not have the same fine as no cats. In realty most people do not get bothered by the cops or emissions people for no cats, but I have heard that in Cali and some other states they are really cracking down and you get a huge fine for not running a cat.

Yea Im in New Jersey, and they basically have the same laws as Cali, the most restricting, hardest laws of any states which sucks. But I have tints and illegal lighting on my car which are COMPLETELY illegal in New Jersey, your not allowed to having ANY tints whatsoever or lighting, and so far I havent been hassled really. And I know its completely illegal in NJ to not have cats, but there's really no way to tell.
I am only saying get your car privately inspected, because no matter what your states laws are you will find someone who will do it for you, so Im just saying, its much less of a hassle.
Hell, the guy who inspects my car every 2 years helps me put all the illegal crap on my car. So I think its pretty safe to say Im good for now.

i don't know how they inspect your cars, but they don't care about tint in VA, and we're one of the most strict for emissions and inspection.

Here in IL. you need to take your car to a state run emissions station every 2 years, there are no private inspectors.
