what does PI mean? i see PI heads and PI cams all the time, whats the difference between PI and non-PI?

these head and intake came out in the 99+ 4.6's
96-98 had the non-pi sh**

if you buy aftermarket heads for a 96-98 make sure they are pi and that you have a pi intake manifold then your all set for 40+ hp

 

patriot performance stage 2 pi heads at summit racing for $1,200 after all is said in done they are a good head for your money. They are cnc ported and bigger valves, bonze guides, boost ready. They almost flow as well as a 4 valve head. By the time you build a set of heads to match them you might as well of just bought those.

 

PI is the name ford gave the casting. they are a different casting than the old non pi's. they specifically refer to the heads found on 99-04 GT's, and other ford vehicles with 4.6 motors. such as the explorers, F-150's etc... that are/were pi motors.
