60' time Q
I have a 99 mustang GT with a CAI, catback exhaust, and a Off-road expipe, i went to the races last night, and the best 60" i could get is a 2.269, i have 73K miles on my car, do you think this is because of my clutch slippin, or am i just not drivin it right? is it possible to get it down to a 2.0 flat or below, with my mods?? thank you

RE: 60' time Q
Well lets put it this way, I have a 98 gt with 72k miles, stage 2 clutch, bassani x pipe cat back flowmaster, steeda short shifter, cai, i ran a 14.56 with a 60 ft time of 2.01, so you should definatly be able to hit a 2.0

Sounds to me more like your launch tecnique than your clutch. How are you staging the car? I hope your not doing a big burn out on street tires, they only need a short little spin just to clean them off.

Tires are 2 wks old, brand new, BF G's 275/40/17's and im launching at around 2-2.5 grand, but my ET is a 14.083 at 100.5 mph, so if i can get my 60' time down i should be hitting 13's fairly easy, wouildnt you say?

RE: 60' time Q
So this doesnt sound like a clutch issue, i dont feel it slippin, but it feels that its on the verge, but with my trap time at 100 mph, sounds like i should be hitting 13's ...and right now thats my goal

RE: 60' time Q
Not a clutch problem, but more like how you are using the clutch and throttle at the same time.
Feather the clutch out, roll into the gas, don't just mat it.
Look into some drag radials, some LCA's...

RE: 60' time Q
i pulled a 2.226 on very very worn continental winter tires with no clean off and dumping the clutch at about 3K
i tried four other times before that slipping the clutch from idle, all the way to about 2-3K
so there is no reason you can't do better with more practice,,,,
i only pulled a 2.05 on my MT's,, so im in the same boat, more practice equals better times
as for putting you into the 13's... if you cut a 2.0, i would bet you are in the 13.7 time with NO problem
my times were drastically cut with improving 60's
in fact, i went from 14.545 with a 2.226 to
............................14.086 with a 2.050
that is EVEN BETTER than the usual .1 on 60' = .2 on ET
GOOD LUCK
