Default 98 GT performance!!!

Well lets start off by saying...Whats going on guys? Im new to this forum but looks like im going get alot of helpful tips for my stang.

Now i know all of you know how much easier it is to get after market parts for the 5.0 b/c it has been around for a long time.

So my question is what is my next step for horsepower on the 96-98 4.6l?

*My Engine is all stock with full exhaust(bassani x-pipe, 2 cham. flows) with 4:10 gears.

Cold air intake, camshaft, a computer chip that suits your setup, heads and intake.

you might need a mil eliminater with that x pipe to keep the check engine light from coming on. do you have the converters still on or not?

how much did the 4.10 gears cost you, and how much was it to put them in, how long was your car in the shop-or is it a DIY project, and MOST important was it worth the money....thanks

MustangGTRocks- well yes thats true i had already purchased the MIL eliminators and installed them with the x pipe b/c it has no converters. thanks though.

98StANG4.6- i got my gears and installation for 399 even no tax from a local mustang shop. It was only in the shop for about 7 hours but thats b/c he had to wait for the gears to get there and after they got there it only took him like 2 hours. You can do it yourself but it you dont know what your doing you can really screw things up b/c you have to shim and adjust everything perfect. But it is The Best Bang For The BUCK! I turned 13.8 on street tires.

I am running a custom exhaust with no MIL, no converters, only a set of glass packs...It works OK, no check engine light yet.

Now...anyone knows how to fix the lack of torque in the 4.6L? I used to own a 94GT and that thing had torque! The 4.6L has proved to be weak off the line for me. I feel it picks up beyond 3500 rpm. Any suggestions? Next up is gears (3.7) and most likely a cold air intake (fender mount).

Get a bigger cam (260-270 degrees of duration), Bullitt intake and the gears.

hey stanglover the bullit in take is only for the newer 4.6 right or will it work on the 96-98 mustangs? Is it a upper lower combonation or just upper intake?

ln the March issue of MM&FF, they swapped the intake on a '01 GT. So l'm not sure if the Bullitt intake is for your car but l don't think there is a big difference between the two engines...And l think it's a upper lower combo.
