Default short shifter

a friend recomended me getting a short shifter,it started after a sad story of me having a cup from jack in the box where the change jar normally goes, well. i went to shift to second and my jumbo sized drink stopped me, meanwhile, i was stuffing fries down my throat so, it got a lil bit messy and, well, during htis someone side swiped me, im sure had i not been such a carelss bastard, i could have saved my love the pain. so, about short shifters, how much do they actually shorten the shift, (im not really getting one so thatit will not hit my drink again), also what brand and from where is the best to buy. anyone in LA, i need a place to work on mustangs, any recomendations would be great. also about intakes, same question, where can i buy, and what brands are best. ??? thanks

i had a friend that had a pro 5.0 shifter in his 02gt and that thing was sweet. seemed to be about half the length of the stock shifter and he could run that thing through the gears without any problem. He loved it, I loved it, everyone loved it

I have a PRO5.0 shifterin my '03 gt and I love it. I get in a stock GT and its like shifting a truck - not to mention the slack. With the 5.0 shifter there is about6 inches of travel between 1st and 2nd, and about2 inches between 1st and 5th. I haveen't missed3rd gear since I changed it! It is also great for the downshift to 4th... sorry to hear about your ride

Pro 5.0 claims a 30% reduction in throw from stock, steeda about 33% less. Both are great- I have the pro 5.0 and love it. If you try them in the shop you cannot tell the diff- price is about the same also.

i hate a short shifter handle that you get with your new shifter a use my stock handle on them so you had more leverage to yank thougth the gears

You can do the install yourself, its only 4 bolts and some sealer, a shop will charge an hours labor but I think it takes about 30 minutes. I paid $199.95 for the 5.0.

Cheaper for the Steeda version. I love mine. Easy install. Smooth shifts. I feel like I get through the gears quicker with the shortened arm better than with stock.

You definitely won't hit your coke with it!

Hey, I haven't put my shifter in yet but I saw a link on another similar question that will help with your install questions: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/shift1.htm

Hey guys with the pro5.0 already in, from his story it did make me curious... does the newshifter hit your drinks anymore? Thats something thats pissed me off for so long about the car.
