I don't know if any of you know, but Code is very blessed to still be living... A broken femur has a 90% mortality rate. My brother is a paramedic, and broken femurs usually mean death he says. It's a miracle he's still alive.

Huh? A broken femur means death? ONLY if the femoral artery is severed.

Otherwise, 90% of bull riders, motocross riders, NASCAR drivers, etc., would be dead already. Many times over.

You sure it isn't 9%?

It's not actually the femur that causes the death. It's the amount of force required to break it. Usually an accident that is bad enough for a femur to break results in death. I guess I worded it wrong.

Peace out to Code. I had a compound fracture to my femur before. Leaves you on the side lines for a long time. Affects you again when you get the steel rod taken out a year or two later. Sk8erdudex is right in the 90% rate. The impact causing the femur to break in most cases will kill the person.

Alll the best,

Monster

Well, he is still not doing to good now. With all the trauma and stress he has gone through he has developed the shingles. I did not know a thing about shingles till he got them. They say they are very painful, and make you very miserable.... And let me tell you he is miserable. He is still on oxygen and we will know more on Tuesday on how his lungs are doing after we see the DR. Well just an update to let you guys know. Oh Yeah we received actuall pics of the car in the mail today and the ones with the digital camera on Lonestarstangs.com do not show the real car. It really scared me and Mitch when we saw them today...So still keep us in your prayers because it seems like it is going to be a long, long road ahead...

Thanks
Margo

OH yeah I bought him a laptop so he should be back on with in the week!!!

MrsCode...I've got you guys in my prayers as well as on our list at church if that's okay with you. After my wreck, I was diagnosed with shingles, too - but it turned out to be nerve damage. Either way, the pain is excruciating. I definitely feel for him - half my spine was rebuilt, so I've kinda been there. Hopefully, after all this calms down some, the shingles will go back to being dormant in his system. If it is shingles for sure, he'll have to watch his stress level from here on out because he'll be more prone to recurring episodes after this. I just hope they're helping him with his pain adequately - I didn't have that luxury & just about lost my mind.

Are they still saying that his oxygen problems are from the airbag deployment? I had no idea airbags could cause that much damage!

Bless his heart - he's having a rough go of it. If you think of anything we could do to help, let us know, ok? Meanwhile, you're definitely in my prayers.

Penny

My prayers go out to code and his family, I will continue to pray for you code. I'm new the forums but I have experienced a similar situation in my life. My dad's best friend was his by a semi-truck who ran a red-light and was in very critical condition aswell. The only up-side is that after he was better they sued for an *** load of money. Once again, my prayers and best wishes go out to you code.
