Default car died, help needed

well i went to get some food with my friends, the car was running perfectly fine...when i came out, i started the car up, and the rpms kept jumping from 400-700 back and forth at idle. I took it up to the gas station and filled it up. It felt like it was draging when first accelerating. When i turned the car on(it started), the tac didnt go up at all and it died. I had to constantly give it gas, even when braking so it wouldnt turn off....could this possibly be the alternator? thanks for your help

Sounds like the Idle air control valve (IAC). Pull it off and try cleaning it out with some carb cleaner, and spray some wd-40 in it.

check your fuel pump... sounds like it may be short on fuel and the motor could be cut off. wait, nevermind.. just read the rest of the post... could be altenator, or regulator. something of the sort.

sounds like iac or alternator! If it's the alternator everything will shut down and the car will not even turn over!

i went to look for the IAC today, and my intake tube had come undone...maybe when i took my car in to the dealership for them to inspect my intake manifold they did something? either way i tightened it back up and its running fine now
