Default shorty headers

im looking for a better sound and increases in horsepower and torque is just an added bonus. would shorty headers be an ok decision? i dont have the money for longtube or mid headers so its either shorty or nothing. good investment or no?

i would say bbk would be your best bet they are tuned to give the most possible out of a shortie.

I like my JBA shorties. They are expensive if you buy them brand new though. I think they run at 500-550. I got them for 250. Sounds good to me!

I've seen JBA's for about 300-350 new. BBK is good too. Just avoid MAC.

dont buy shortie headers. just buy some stock manifold and hve them jell ported. it will be cheaper and the same hp. but shortie hears are like 5 hp. i know the Ford racing ones are like 1-2 hp on a dyno

Not really worth it, especially cause they are going to be a bitch to put on... everyone says LT's are a pain to put on cause you have to drop the kmember and raise the engine... well I dont think shorties would be any easier to put on; there is absolutely no room under there.

Sure longtubes may be a bitch, but the 15+rwhp that you get from them and the sick exhaust note makes it alllllll worthwhile.

i found this deal on ebay. comes out to 295 bucks for the bbk shorty headers with shipping and everything. this guy is sayin 20 hp? sounds like a salesman to me. let me know what you think? im really leaning towards shorty headers cuz i wont have to add a matching midpipe

MM&FF did an article about shorties on the '05 3V motor. They compared JBA, BBK, MAC, FRPP, stock manifolds, etc. The hp range between stock and ANY shortie was 2hp. Granted this was a 3V, but I think we can expect the same from a 2V motor.

If your dead set on shorties, then buy something with jet hot or ceramic coating. I've seen the FRPPs on ebay for $335 recently. I can't find them right now, but I know they are there somewhere.
