Default New Engine?

New week, new plan.

Overall I'm just not happy with the potential of my engine. What I'm wondering is, is it worth it to invest the money in a NEW engine, maybe one from VTengines, or am I better off biding my time and hunting down a 03/04 Mach 1? I could probably get 14 or 15k for my car which would pay for most of the Mach...

And if I decide to go with a VTengine, anyone have any recommendations? If I plan it correctly I could afford to spend as much as 7 or 8k.

7k on the engin or you could sell the car for 15 add the 7 to that and have 22k i have seen o3 cobras go for 24 so i would almost have to go that direction. personaly i think the 2v engine is a great engine but doesn't compare to the potential of a 4v.

If you are any sort of budget racer the 2v is definitely NOT the way to go.

hunt down a 99-01 cobra or a 03/04 mach... might get lucky and pull a deal on a 03 cobra.. I know someone who got one for 0 down, $23k financed with 6% intrest (and hes got crappy credit) regardless, if you sold for 15k, thats a HELL of a down payment, if you could do monthly payments, you could probably get one of them 07 shelby's :-p

if you put 15k down on a 24k car that would leave you 9 to finace your payments over 60 months would be about 180 a month.

You can also go to stangparts.com. I bought a 04 Mach 1 engine with everything but the cat-back and the rear-end for $5,200. When I say everything I mean everything. Fuel tank, fuel lines, engine, tranny, k-member, computer and all the wiring throughout the car. One of my friends bought a 5.0 from them and he had no problems.

Not a bad deal.

Let me clarify a little bit, if you hope basic bolt-ons, minus nitrous/blower/supercharger to really make a 2v quick, it's not the greatest engine for that. Hope I didn't offend anyone [&:]

No joke? Mid 12s? Hmmm...I was thinking of getting upper/lower contral arms and probably a stage 1 cam for my next mods. I really don't have target times, though I guess I would be happy if I could stay in the low 12s range. I want my car to look good, feel good, sound good, and be able to back all that up with enough speed to make people say, "Wow, nice car", all while not looking like a turd to the rest of the Stang enthusiasts out there....though I think that is impossible, since I've discovered a lot of the newer generation Stang enthusiasts are turds by default.

I found a BEAUTIFUL Mach 1 last night...2004, manual, competition orange with black highlights (HOT!), only 6700 miles. Problem is, they are asking about 24k for it. It's from a dealership, so that's why it is so high. Still, for a dealership, and with that kinda mileage, that's not too bad...I'm going to talk to the guy today and see how much I can talk him down. I mean, that's close to a new GT. And in a couple years or so there is going to be a new Mach 1, which will likely drive down the prices even further. I'm thinking now is not the best time to buy a Mach, but....damn, that thing is sexy.

But...to walk away form my car, after all the work and money...full exhaust, gears, all the money I put into the body work...I mean, that just sucks, to give up on it.

only 24k for an 04 with 6700 miles? Thats a bit of a steal if you ask me. And with a newer mach coming out, I dont think it will drive it down, but up for value. The 03/04 Machs are a bit of a limited edition... They made less of them even of the SVTs; i paid $21k for my 03mach with 27kmiles, so it's not out of range, PLus it's still underwarranty. Granted I know how you feel. I had a lot of stuff in my 00 GT, Headers, bassani x, magnflow catback, tri-ax, stage1 comp cams (steeda), cobra brakes, mac cai (dont hate!), puttin down 294 on the butt dyno, Performance red, beautiful car, but the mach won out :-p
