Default failed emissions

well i passed everything except for odb reading he said there were zero codes. That didnt make sensnse to me but he asked if my battery has been disconnected or if i had the car repaired lately. He says that if the battery is disconnected the odb resets and i have to drive 200 miles and come back and there will be info on it. My question is does the diable predator have anything to do with this. i installed the preformance tune and i just put the stock tune back in the car so i could take the test. Can i take an emissions test with a predator tune on?

umm...zero codes is good. Unless he's talking about a full loop cycle.

What that means is that for the first 200 miles the car is resetting all the baselines for the computer. Some components require anywhere from 1 start cycle (car turning on and off) to 20. Some just require that you drive the car X number of miles. Let me guess. You put the factory tune back in and headed to the shop?

Right now he can't get a read to make sure all the emissions sensors are working properly. Some take more than one fault to trip the light.

Drive it around for about a week or however long it takes you to get 200-250 miles on your car and take it back...what sucks is you will have to leave the factory tune in their until you get the smog cert. Any battery interuptions or computer changes will start that mileage over again.

I have this code scanner, look at page 22(24) under I/M readiness Quick Check testing. That's what the guy was talking about.

yea i set it to stock tue just before i left to go there. 200 miles is gonna cost a lot in premium gas and i need to get a passed thing sent out in about a week[:@]

Ok so if i set up the predator performance tune it will make everything reset? can i change to performance tune drive 200+ miles and then take the test or do i have to be on stock tune?

hat sucks is you will have to leave the factory tune in their until you get the smog cert
what is the smog cert? Do i have to get this seperatly or do they mail it to me after emmisions or something?

crap thats right its january, last year when they just started those tests the obd2 test was a crock and you passed regardless. just curious, for your tune you dont have the rear o2s disabled do you? for the battery rest deal it usually takes around 20-30 minutes for everything to go back to normal. goodluck, hope they didnt burn you too bad for inspection fees.

You actually didn't fail imissions, the PCM just hadn't done a check.

You will need to drive the car to set the parameters they are checking.

If you install a tune stock or aftermarket it clears teh table and the car has to relearn all over again.

Once table fills after a couple of hundred you should pass emissions no prob.

With the stock tune though you don't need premium gas 89 maybe but that's it. Leave it on the stock tune because the tuners reset the sensor table. If you switch to performance, then back to stock you've just reset the computer twice and started teh whole process over. Yes it sucks, but it's part of being modded and being in a state with strict emission standards.

Smog cert, what they give you when you pass smog. They issue it to you on the spot and in most states that require it, will transmitt a copy of it electronically to the Motor Vehicle office you register your car with.

You have a stock mach except for a diablo? You should pass emissions with it on.

P.S. This is just another example of why a tuner should not be one of your first mods.

Drive around town for a couple hours man, it'll be easy to rack up the miles. SilverGTV8 is right, I had this same issue with my GT.
