You have a 6 bolt flywheel. Only manual version mach 1's and cobras have the 8 bolt. An aluminum flywheel will free up horsepower by getting rid of unwanted reciprocating weight, mabye like 5+hp. Also it will rev up faster. But it does lower your launching ability if your looking to drag race.

the 8 bolt will fit if you get a cobra crank with that flywheel yea, your stock one is a 6 bolt unfortunatly... thats why im waiting to replace the flywheel till when i redo the motor with a new crank and stuff....

also, i heard somethin about the motor not lasting as long with a lighter flywheel.. is this true? why so? do they make one that will let the motor last as long?

(2) 4.6L engines may have 6 or 8 bolts to attach to the crankshaft. Check the engine code before ordering. Romeo built engines have 6 bolts and Windsor built engines have 8 bolts. All Cobra engines have 8 bolts. The 8th character in the VIN is (X) for Windsor engine plant or (W) for Romeo engine plant.
everyone has told me my 2003 Mustang GT has a 6 bolt flywheel... but my 8th character in my VIN is X which should mean i have an 8 bolt. I am just trying to figure things out.

I got a question also with an aluminum flywheel that weighs less will it make the ride more bumpy/jumpy?

I am running an aluminum flywheel with a Spec clutch and it definitely takes some getting used to. The engine revs quicker and combined with the spec clutch, heavy traffic driving sux.
