Default 4.6 2V question

I just read somewhere on turbomustangs.com that the 4.6L 2v can only handle 400 hp is this true?

this is true.. they handle around 400-450 ... the rods are the weakest link the crank and block itself are actually pretty strong

It can handle more than that. I have been making over 500 flywheel hp in my supercharged 4.6 2v motor for nearly 30,000 miles with zero issues, and I expect to be able to do the same for another 70,000+ miles. It's all in the tune.

from what I've been told by a friend who also happens to be a ford mechanic is that the rods are good up to 450 rwhp, over that and things start to get a bit sketchy. the block should be good for almost 1000 hp, but not so reliable at those kind of numbers.

400 RWHP is the safe place to be. You can go over, but you run a chance of blowing something.
