Default Does this stuff really work. Help.

Me and my buddy were talking and surfing the net when we ran across and add about adding 20 more hp to you mustang just by adding one of these chips you see on ebay. My question is do they really work, he insisted that they do. I dont believe him here is a link to one of the adds. It seems like a gimic to me. He has 2001 mustang bullitt. The tranny is a manual also. I am very interested to no we place a bet of 10.00 so please be honest.

Dont waste your time or your money. Save that $20 and put it towards a handheld tuner. What they are selling there can be made at radio shack for next to nothing.

It fools your MAF into giving the wrong reading. This is really a hack way of doing things and the 100% safe comment is pure bullsh*t. This will lean out your car and put it in danger of pinging. The CORRECT way of fixing your air/fuel table is to get a programmer and even better yet, to have it dyno tuned. This ebay mod could absolutely result in pinging or knocking: especially on a hot day. Pinging and Knocking will ruin your engine over time and actually result in LESS power. You might get a couple hp if the chip is conservative enough but you've effectly removed the engine's built-in saftey net in a very broad way over the whole RPM range. A programmer would tweak the table correctly at various RPMs to figure out the best air/fuel ratio for each one without going into danger in the others.

They are not safe for your car. I think it adjusts your timing a little bit and tricks the computer on how much air its taking in.
