traction control?
hey everyone,
im new to this mustang forum, and i am new to mustang in general, i JUST bought a 1996 mustang gt 4.6 5spd i have a CAI and headers and a fully mendral bent MAC exhaust (headers to tailpipes) i have 2 questions.... #1 i have been seeing crap about 'traction control' this would **** me off i have that on my 96, the Q is do i? and how do you turn it off/on? the #2 Q is, is a o/r x/h pipe actually help a computer operated car? i know back in the muscle era you could take the cats off the big blocks and you would see excelllent gains in wheel spinning power, but on a car DESIGNED to run off cats and emissions crap, does it help? seems like it would actailly be WORSE for your car (counting in the fact you need a MIL simulator for the exhuast obviesly) thanks alot guys

No, your car does not have traction crontrol.
Yes, it does help some with running an o/r x/h pipe, but also these new hiflo cats flow pretty good that you only loose like 1-2 hp.

well heres the thing, i just bought it and it had all i got on it now, like i literally got it home saturday, but the midpipe after the headers both pipes go into a box (retangle long ways side to side) and then goes back out and then to the muffs, what is that box? the cat i am guessing, and also the o2 sensors are both infront of that box, im like wtf i thought 2 infront and 2 behind? the back 2 are right infront of it, if you cant visualize it ill try to load it off my digi cam, and put it on here, its weird, and also, heres a good Q for ya, on my way home, i filled up with gas (bought 45 mins of driving), and about 3 mins after that, the check engine light came on, first thought was maybe gas cap, stopped and tighted it, it was tight and just kept clickin, didnt go off, so when i got home, i unplugged the batter cable to reset the comp and havent drove it yet, due to living in michigan and salt and stuff, but if it comes back on what would cuase that? the o2 sensor deal? a o2 senor bad? cat bad? gas cap ? thanks alot

I believe you have a prochamber. It's offered by mac and it is slightly different than an h-pipe. There should be 2 up high by the exhaust manifolds and the 2 lower ones.. I think you need to get some mil elimantors on the rear 2 o2's because it sounds like you do not have cats. That could be your problem.

Prochamber on the left, regular h pipe on the right. Both o/r

thanks alot, that is so much help, mine is the prochamber one...what is that compared to a regular H pipe supposed to do? more power? better sound? those mac muffs must quiet it down quite a bit cuz its not very loud for not having cats but its got a nice deep tone thats for sure, again thanks alot!
