Default hit a deer

<IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0">i am NOT happy, just a few minutes ago, i was driving along on a rather large road in the middle lane and out of nowhere a freakin deer comes running out. I slammed on the brakes but it was already too close. i hit the deer on my front passenger side, breaking my headlamps, fog light, cracking the bumper, breaking the top mounts, even bending the f*cking lisence plate. I've had the thing for two freakin months and it was my first brand new car that I bought so that i wouldnt have to drop more unneccecary money into it and already its messed up. I have no idea how im gonna afford this all. does anyone have a genereal idea as to how much it'll cost just for the parts? im either gonna fix it or use the money to go buy a gun and go huntin. the second i see a f***ing deer with the imprint of the horse and corral in its *** is dead </P>

</P>

*EDIT*sorry i meant to post this under the general discusion, if one of the mods could move it that would be cool, unless this forum is fine in which case here it will stay i guess*EDIT*</P><edited><editID>speedfreek04</editID><editDate>38018.1412384259</editDate></edited>

Speed,</P>

I'm very sorry to hear about that; I feel your pain. I hit a deer in a Jeep one time and they give you no time to react at all. I live in Oakton VA by the way. Just get a few body shop quotes first: I know there's one near Excessive Motorsports in Manassas, and Springfield Motorsports (both of those shops work almost exlusively on Mustangs) has a body shop also. Try to find out how much they are asking for parts, and then go online and see after that if you can get them for cheaper. A lot of the Mustang magazines have those panels for low cost, and all they need is painting. If its not too much, try to avoid the insurance company, but I know you said you weren't sure where you'd get the $$$.</P>

Why doesn't the insurance pay for it? I know you may not want to turn it in to them, but thats some pretty extensive damage.

Hey, so sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I'd just gotten my car not only 1 month, and I wrecked the back bumper and then a week later, I wrecked the front bumper. Fortunately, just only the bumpers, so I had both of them replaced by the dealership.</P>

Hey, CHECK AROUND for parts and prices. I went to several different places and BELIEVE IT OR NOT, both times, the DEALERSHIP hadbetter prices. Everybody else was more.</P>

and BTW, check to see how much it'll COST first BEFORE telling your insurance. I don't know if INSURANCE will cover this, but IF IT DOES, it may not be WORTH it cuz let's say it'll cost a grand total of $2,500 to fix everything but your insurance rates might go up an extra $5,000 the next 3 years.</P>

insurance said it would be covered under comprehensive and wouldnt raise my rates, but i have a $1000 deductable so if I can do it myself cheaper, theres no point in reporting it as a claim. i found a cobra bumber brand new for $360 on summit(not sure if it'll fit 04, need to call them tomorrow) with driving lamps and all. that would fix those two problems and then i just need to worry about getting the bumper painted, the other scratches on the hood buffed out(none seemed to go through the clearcoat somehow) , get a new headlamp and realign the hood cause its ever so slightly off to the right looking at it from the front. god i hate northern virginia

Sorry to hear about that speed. I live in Pennsylvania so I know what your going through. I haven't hit a deer in my 19 years driving (knocking on wood), but I came close twice. Once where the deer was coming right for me and while I was slamming on the breaks, I'm watching her and SHE HIT THE BREAKS and stopped right at my bumper as Iwas passing her! Wow, was my adrenaline PUMPING! Dude, that sucks what happened.</P>

My advice is if your deductible is $1000 and your rates WON'T go up, I'd let the insurance deal with it and take it off your mind. Just make sure you get a good body shop with genuine FORD parts!</P>

You can also make this a good thing, like someone else said, and get some upgrades for the body panels! Eg: New hood, new bumper cover, etc. Then get someone to paint it...it won't be too much $!</P>

Best of luck to you!</P>

Do what is right and turn it into your insurance company. I bought a car that had been in a minor accident &amp; it ws never reported, when I found out I was furious.
