Most competetive road/track racers do better with Solid Axels that have a

Torque Arm/Pan hard bar
or
Watts Link/Tri-Link
or
5 Link

As a general rule IRS is nearly worthless for all things competative. It can be modified to work almost as well as the above but it'll cost much more money and it'll weight quite a bit more.

On the upside it offers a nice ride and it's kinda fun once you modify it to get all of the play out.

I would go for an irs, as I don't live my life a "1/4 mile at a time". but I do have a lot of ****ty roads around me.

IRS hands down. With coild overs in front and a few things on the IRS awesome ride. Guy in my mustang club has a GT with that setup...rocks!
