BBK underdrive pulley install?
Hey guys i need help on installing bbk alum. udp's. I bought used and they did not come with instructions but i pretty much know how to install but have a few questions? There's the three pieces them being alternator, and what's the other water pump pulley? and crank pulley right? I seen where someone posted they had to bolt bbk udp on the stock one is this true or do you just replace the whole pulley? Thanks for any help you can give!

RE: BBK underdrive pulley install?
For BBK's you dont just swap out the crankshaft pulley. You reuse your stock crankshaft pulley and merge the BBK one with that one. Its whats called a piggyback style setup. If you notice with the Steedas and the BBK's, steeda's crankshaft pulley is MUCH larger and heavier, because its designed to be a full replacement.
As far as install goes, its just plain eaiser to use air tools to get the alternator pulley and the crankshaft pullies off. Otherwise, youll be fighting with rotating mass to get the damn nuts/bolts off. Remove your water pump pulley first, as it makes it eaiser to get the little bolts out, and it releases the tension on the belt for the other pullies. Make sure to take note on how the belt is run as well! |
