What to do first?
I am in the process of buying my first Mustang ('00 GT w/ at) and would like to get different opions on what order to install aftermarket parts. Keep in mind that I drive about 90 miles a day (approx 2.5- 3 hrs seat time) and need to keep reliability and gas mileage high on my priority list. Any suggestions as far as brands is also helpful whether it is a recomendation or a suggestion to stay away.

I appreciate all the info and help I get from everybody. Ford owners definitly know how to look out for each other.

If you are concerned of gas mileage, get a 5 speed. The automatic will be a pig, especially after mods and if you want any performance you'll need to dump those TALL stock gears.

I don't have a choice about the 5spd. My wife has to be able to drive it too. What do you mean by tall gears? Do you know what they are and wouldn't it be slow as hell if I replaced them?

4.10s will kill your gas mileage big time,,,i got 99 cobra few mods ,,3.73s get 28 mpg.on interstate going 75 mph..i love it,,i can go 250 miles just under half a tank,,

Tall gears would be 2.73's in which I believe your car will be equipped with. Any gear change in your automatic will decrease gas mileage. You can switch to 3.27's but you won't see too much of a difference for the money, won't be worth it..

Does anyone have the actual mileage, mostly highway, of an automatic either stock or modified? And NO! If I wanted a 6-banger s**tbox, I would just buy a hybrid car so I could get super gas mileage.

I know Mustangs aren't that economical, but my 95 Taurus only gets 21mpg and my F-150 only gets about 18mpg. So as long as I can get close to 20mpg, I'm okay.
