Default A/C & Power Loss

Does anyone know about how much HP the ac compressor eats up?

It did it on my 99 GT and on my trans am. When I turn on my ac it almost feels like igo from a V8 to a V6..

3 to 7 HP depending on the size of the compressor, load, etc.

The A/C compressor is on a clutch. When its not on or when you're at full throttle it spins freely and doesnt eat anything up. So you can drive along with the A/C on and as soon and you go foot to the floor it turns of the A/C

I have that problem too with the ac on.If im already off the clutch in 1st, and i gas itihave tofloorso the ac will disengage before i spin. When the ac is off i can go about 3/4 pedal and roast the tires.

It does take a second for the A/C to kick off.
