Default What does a bolt on MACH1 run?

How 'bout a 11.3? I have seen alot of vids of this car and kept up with his progress. It is a stock motor with bolt ons. I have seen quite a few people saying ALOT of untruths about weight reduction being less important than horsepower. This car dynoed at 305 to the wheels, but weighs right around 28xx lbs with driver. It's is bascially gutted with no carper, passnger seat, etc. The dash is still intact, but has no air bags, A/C, heater etc.

Enjoy...

Anyone that doesn't believe in wieght reduction is a fool. Hell, look at the time's lightened LX notchbacks run with around 300 WHP... its amazing.

In all fairness though, it does need saying he is getting one hell of a launch... not exactly a bone stock suspension I guarentee ya.

His MPH is amazing... 118 MPH with just 30x whp. Even at 2800 pounds that seems fast.. must be a hell of a driver.

Edit: I saw someone in street/strip talking about how weight reduction only effects launch..apparently nobody went to highschool, they had this figured out a long long long time before anyone thought of the horseless carriage....

Force = mass X accleration... therefore force, divided by mass, equals accleration.

Reduce the mass without reducing the force and accleration increases... its that simple.

i've gone over this in my physics class and was wondering though, for what would you use "force" for, like what would that tell you bout your car?? i'd hate to do acceleration in mph, then i'd have to do all those lousy conversions because we used min/sec*squared, haha

from my understanding every 100lbs = .1 sec in the 1/4 mile

I love that guy's car. That's the strip I go to. I believe I've even posted his vid before. He does have a cage. And yes his car is COMPLETELY gutted. Not even a hood liner.

And no, he's not hiding a turbo anywhere either.

+1, he has a cage and that's funny...I used to go to that track all the time. It's in Epping NH.
