Default RE: Exhaust Questions

I will look into the Bassani exhaust, too bad I am at school and can't hear the soundclips from goldeneagles post. Does Bassani have sound clips online? I really like the way the Magnaflow cat-back sounds on the GT's though;is themagnaflow magnapack cat-back a direct-fit onto teh Bassani mids and shorty x-pipe without mods or would it need modded?

Ah, forgot about Steeda! Any opinions on Steeda exhaust or performance pacs?

For the ranger lol..

If thats your car in your sig i have never heard an X on a car like that lol...

And ya like goldeneagle said, On a GT you do get more hp from an X .....but its only a couple.
The ranger is a project truck, I bought it with no motor/trans and put a 5.0L and AOD out of a 91 GT into it . Now my only problem is the torque the 302 produces twists it so far it shoves the WP through the radiator. [:@]. Killed 6 radiators so far and have driven it roughly 100 miles [:@]. I need to get a custom one made and some torque braces for it.

If only you knew me lol. I am the guy that will pick up pennies off the ground if I see one. Every hp counts!

Another noob question: What is a pro chamber? is it basically the same thing as a shorty x-pipe where it leaves the stock cats and 02 sensor in place? And Steeda carries a magnaflow shorty x pipe, so maybe I will get that and the magnapack cat-back and then LT's.

A prochamber is a Mac product... it is what its descriptions says, a chamber. Instead of like an H having the cross pipe between the two pipes, the pipes will both come into a little chamber. Power wise this product performs pretty well. Mac sometimes can be hit or miss with fitment tho. Some people never have a problem with them, others have a hard time getting it all to fit correctly.

Like I said before... pick your exhaust on whatyou think sounds the best because any aftermarket exhaust will be an upgrade from the stock exhaust. There are better ways of picking up hp and tq than just exhaust. Intake, upper blower pulley, tune and exhaust can get you anywhere from 40-70 more hp.

Quick tip on exhaust notes for you. Mac and Flowmaster have chambered mufflers and usually do better with h pipes while SLP and Magnaflow Magnapacks are straight through designs and usually do better with x pipes. The Mac and Flowmasters offer a deeper, more rumbly, oldschool musclecar type sound while the SLP's and Magnapacks offer more of a higher pitched, racecar type sound. The SLP's and Magnapacks are typically louder than the Flow's and Mac's. Also a prochamber is similar to an h pipe but not the same. It goes better matched with the chambered muffler systems. And by the way, you can get shorty pipes with or w/o cats on them. I'd search around for the best deals in terms of companies and what they sell. Some of the sponsors on this website offer great deals on exhaust setups and what not. Remember, the beauty of the sound lies in the ear of the beholder.

I have the Prochamber and I like it. It sounds good., very deep and has good flow. It's a good happy medium between an H pipe and X pipe. I had no fitment issues at all.

Will Long Tube headers and a shorty x-pipe with cats cause any CEL's to come on?

I went to the BBK performance website and they have a shorty 2.5" x-pipe with cats and the 2.5"long tube headers. I think that I may get those and then the magnaflow magnapack cat-back exhaust system. Does the BBK website have prices? I haven't seen any on there. If you know of any other sites that have prices on these items let me know.

2.5" BBK shorty x-pipe with cats Item #: 1638
2.5" BBK full length long tube headers Item #: 1541

Are ceramic coated headers worth it, or can you just stick with chrome?

The LT's with a catted X shouldn't throw a code. www.americanmuscle.com has the BBK LT's and the Magnaflow Magnapacks but I don't think they have the shorty x pipe with cats. They have fairly competitive prices plus they have a discount code. And make sure you go with the ceramic coated headers because they are better quality and can handle the heat from the exhaust gases.
