i woke up early this morning and took the stang out and i came across an mr2. looked like crap two little cans on the back. So anyways, he was following me pretty close so i gave it a little jump to show him whats up, well he stays with me and we play around throught traffic( very light). then he gets ahead of me and im like, okay if this guys goes im just gonna watch, so he does and a cloud of black smoke came out the back and the next thing i hear is pssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh!

i know nothing about these cars. do they come stock with turbos? are they fast? awd? it looked and sounded fast as hell.

 

Sounds like its turbo'd. I think the early MR2's might be turboed (the boxy ones), but Im not positive on that. Theyre RWD, mid engine. Stock theyre not fast, kinda quick, theyre a fun driving car, they handle really well.

My roommate has a '91 MR2 Turbo. With bad tires, and just an exhaust it ran a 14.4 in the 1/4.

 

My friend had one they are pretty quick. Some of them do come with a turbo stock. They probally have the same weight to hp ratio as a new edge. But they are downright amazing in curves with very light suspension mods.

 

its one of those kinda cars where if it doesnt look stock than it probably is packing a good punch. theres one in my town with upgraded turbo and body kit and all that, the roof scoop looks kinda lame till you remember that it is mid engine.

 

You need to get used to the fact that a mostly stock GT is not all that fast a car, they are pretty quick in the overall scheme of things by my s/c'd '92 Miata running 10 psi boost eats 'em for lunch--shocks the heck out the poor kids sitting next to their girlfriends when the get dusted by a Miata...

 

why would you be scared/worried? i wouldnt be scared of a F/I MR2. Id be scared when youre F/I and you lose to a F/I MR2. Until then youre comparing a N/A car to a F/I car.

 

I was in my moms 02 GT convertible automatic, sitting at a stop light with the top down, and I look inmy mirror and see a lil convertible coming up and as he made it beside me the light turned green, and he was already going maybe 10mph and I was at a dead stop and I heard his car sort of roarand then hestomped it and so I stompedmy moms carand that little thing took off and left my moms car sitting still. It was a little white convertible with brown int. and an old couple that was driving it. It really supprised me on how fast that thing was, and thatit was an old man driving it. I got behind it at the next light and it didnt have a brand name or symbol on the back of the car but it had SL600 or LS600 and Kenntech or Renntech,(or something like that) But that thing was Fast.

 

cliffyK: i would rather drive a mustang and get beat by a miata than drive a miata and beat a mustang.

2002GT: its a toyota. i dont like the fact that my mustang is gettin beat by little 4cyl cars. F/I of not.
