Default Another day...

I have to wait one more day to get my car back. I sent it in to get the gears installed, and when it was getting put back together, the guy at the shop said he didn't like how this pin was fitting. He said it was too loose, and would be bad for the rearend, so he ordered another one. It's a 1/2 inch dia pin in the limited slip held in by a1/4 inch dia set screw.

What do you gearheads think? He said it appeared as if the guy who owned the car before me beat it a little, and that pin was worn. He also said the edges of the stock gears were sharp, indicating hard use as well. Is the guy full of shyt or is he doing the right thing? He builds race cars for a living, so I would think he knows what he is talking about.

sounds like he's doing it right to me. he could have just put that worn pin back in and could have caused problems later.

Yeah, a new pin is a lot cheaper than a new rearend!

My baby is back!!! Although I can't hoss it for a few hundred miles, it feels good to have it back. Guy said he wants me to put 3 heat cycles in to it and bring the car in at 500 miles to change the fluid.

It's so hard not to mash the gas.

Oh well.
