Default First Track Night Tonight

Went to the track tonight and had a great time with a bunch of members here and ran for the first time. I did ok, but I know I can do much better with practice. I really need to get my 60 foots down. I am spinning straight through first and into second. I think I got about 30 PSI in the tires. Should I lower that at all? I am also going to take out my spare tire and see if that helps at all.

I started launching about 2000 rpm's but then lowered it to about 1500.

Any tips?

My numbers were:

1st Run
60' - 2.336
1/4 - 14.988
MPH - 96.20

2nd Run
60' - 2.341
1/4 - 14.707
MPH - 97.05

3rd Run
60' - 2.369
1/4 - 14.807
MPH - 96.40

4th Run
60' - 2.391
1/4 - 14.747
MPH - 96.25

Try 25psi.I went 30psi to 25 psi and my time went from a14.2 to a 13.4 and my 60' was 2.333 and a 2.225 then went to a 2.022 and that was on cheap street tires

Yeah man, if you aren't hooking, don't be afraid to change tire pressure around. You have to find the "Sweet spot" for your particular tire/size/brand. IMO there is no universal ideal tire pressure, you have to experiment.

The trap speeds are suspect too...he should be at 100 flat.

Practice + tires =

I know practice is a huge part. I am heading back up next week to try again. I will lower my PSI to about 25 and vary my launches. I know I can at least be in the high 13's but more likely low 14's if I can hook. I simply suck at launching. I spin straight through first and second.

How do I increase my trap speeds? Does the launch help that too?

+1 his MPH is way off. If your spinning thru 2nd gear you must have some TERRIBLE tires on a car with the mods in the OP sig.... just not much power there to be spinning so much.

What are you running tire wise? also, if your spinning you shouldn'tbe "launching" at all, you should just try letting out at near idle and then pinning the throttle.
