Exhaust?

Exhaust?
OK, Most Stang owners want the loudest pipes they can find... I'm going the other way ... I want the quietest (or at least as close to stock) as I can find... can you guys (and gals) help me out?
I've got tinnitus (ringing of the ears) really bad in both ears, so I don't want something that's gonna worsen it (I've already got the convertible!), but still want to have a slight performance boost from an aftermarket exhaust.
So far, I'm looking at Borla (not sure which mufflers, can be expensive!), and Flowmaster 70 series.
Also, do you all recommend getting a muffler shop to just weld up a new system with the new mufflers, or buying a catback system? I've heard pluses and minuses of both, but am still not sure which to go with.
Thanks,
-John

RE: Exhaust?
why change your exhaust at all then? pretty much everything u put on is gonna be louder, so unless your doing it for performance...which you wont really gain n e thing from just a catback alone, i think it would be a waste of money. just my .02

RE: Exhaust?
Hey, a few HP is a few HP, right?
And I'll be doing other performance stuff, like intake, chip, maybe a blower in a couple years > Won't it help then?
If you don't recommend a "catback alone" ... what do you recommend?

RE: Exhaust?
to get good power out of an exhaust system you really need to do lt's back or atleast an o/r midpipe with a catback. i would change out your intake and tb/plenum go 75mm if ur gonna get f/i. get some pulleys tuner and gears

RE: Exhaust?
So, I can get the Magnaflow now, then get the OR pipe later, right? That works, since I'm building this car 1 part at a time.
Gears I think I decided on 3.73 or 3.90, don't really feel the need to go to 4.10s - I might do pulleys as well at some point. Money is (as with most of us) tight, so it's a little here, a little there. I definitely want to do a tuner though, I've heard there's a lot to be gained from a new program.

RE: Exhaust?
Well alright then ... I think it's settled - Magnaflow catback for now, possibly a catted midpipe later on?
Oh, and a lifetime supply of earplugs for when it's too loud for me to drive it comfortably
