Default 315's

Do 315's significantly help traction over 245's since they are wider? Or are wider street tires mostly for looks? Cuz I'm getting DD in the rear and just was wondering if I will benefit from wider street tires, or if I should get DR's even though I get DECENT traction. I dont have a blower or anything, just 4.10's that are probably main problem with loss of traction, even though its not that bad. ...

Rule of thumb...

The wider the tire, the more amount of rubber on the ground = the more amount of contact with asphalt which provides more traction. The more rubber put to the floor evens out the torque pushed on the tires at launch onto a broader area, rather than putting all the torque on a smaller area, causing it slip, = less traction.

So they do do something, and they look wicked awesome. My dad's got 315 Eagle F1 DR's. They hook up like crazy.

If you get 315s with your setup you do not have to worry about traction for one second. You will have to try to get those to break loose. Even when you succeed, they won't be spinning for long.

Badass, so I wouldn't even need DR's with my set up (which isn't anything really) right? I mean I spin a little, but the 315's will REALLY improve it that much huh?

Well I don't know too many street tires like all seasons or anything that will run all the way to 315's.

I say save some money and get the DR's. You don't want 315's with a retarded tread. Besides, tire composition is 50% of the equation.

Get some Nittos. the 555r's are badass, and so are Goodyear Eagles. Costly? Yes...Worth it? DEFINATELY.

Look at that shyt!!! This was during our build process, when we got her rollin. She's all done up now!

If your asking what would make a bigger difference, going to a 315 street tire or going to a 275 (on stock rim) drag radial, the answer is the drag radial.

I didn't notice a huge difference between my 275s and 315 nittos traction wise, but it was there. However, there is no comparasion between a d/r and a street tire.

i had 245's I would break loose anytime in first and sideways in 2nd

I went to 315's and 373 gears at the same time......... == bark 2nd and 3rd

i for me the 315's made a huge difference but they slowed the car down a little to

Thanks for the input guys, lemme see some pics of your 315's now!!!

Also, should I just get some sumitomos to go with the rims? I know those are cheap tires, but when you start looking at "good" tires they are like 200+ for 315's right?? Will sumitomos' be okay?
