Default need help-handling problem

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here and just bought a 2000 GT fixer upper. Everything is done but the car seems to wander bad, more so on rough roads. The guy I bought it from says the tires are too wide but I find this hard to believe, they are 245/50-17 on OEM rims. Just had an alignment but the guy did say the left front rim is a little bent and the inside steering knuckle is also slightly bent and has a bit of play. Would this be enough to throw it off?

If the rim is bent then definitely yes. If the rim is out of balance that thing will wobble. I'm not sure what he means by inner knuckle. The control arm, the lower ball joint, the spindle???? Either way anything that is bent in the front suspension will also make an issue. I'm guessing the guy before you hit a curb.

Thanks for the help, the alignment guy said "steering knuckle" which I assume is part of the steering linkage? I may try putting the bent rim on the back instead.

I would recommend just trying to find a new rim. It would just be for the best. The only think I can think of is were the tie rod end bolts to the lower control arm.... which isn't to helpful.
