What are some good ways to make my car lighter? I figured the best thing to do on a budget is just lighten it rather than power adders. I've already removed the back seat. Besides tubular control arms and aluminum driveshaft, what are some "free" mods I can do?

U must have removed jack and spare tire? Buy a lighter hood and lighter wheels. I read for every 100 lbs = 1/10 in 1/4 mile. Good luck

Just carry a shot gun, first aid kit, anda few days supply for dry goods for food. Don't forget water! All together they cost under 300 dollars and may be the best survival mod you can get!

Yeah, I hear u. U could always dump the tire & jack and go w/ AAA towing. I believe tire and jack is something like 75-80 pounds.

^^^ He's probably not!

I read for every 100 lbs = 1/10 in 1/4 mile.
That's the general rule of thumb. If you want free weight reduction, there isn't a whole lot you can do without sacrificing comfort and/or reliability. I could say take out your radio, mach audio system, and a/c system, but you probably don't want that. If you want reliability and comfort with speed, you are gonna have to pay. Are you into drag racing or road racing? A good set of lightweight wheels is a good way to make the stang look good and save a lot of weight.

I don't carry a spare or a jack and I drove 30k last year in my mustang. As long as your tires are in good condition chances are slim you'll have a full on blow out. I carry a basic tool kit, tire plugs, and fix-a-flat. I didn't have a flat at all last year, this year either till I had a job interview at bestbuy around the corner. Fix a flat went in, got to my interview, got the job, drove to Belle tire and they replaced the tire or free! Always buy the insurance on the tires! And yes you can plug a tire on the side of the road with it still on the car. It's just tricky
