But about the K&N drop in. Is it worth it?
IMHO, yes and no. If you're all about performance and want MAX power out of your car from your mods, then NO, the K&N isn't worth it. It'll never give you as much power as full intake kit would. Even though it's a very cheap mod, it's just an airfilter. It just flows more air than the stock paper filter. The air still has to go through the small andcrapmed up factory inlet tube, which is a restriction itself.
When going with an aftermarket intake, you replace the filter and inlet tube. The inlet tubes on aftermarket intakes are bigger than stock, and will flow a lot more air then stock inlet tube. That means more power.
Compare a full intake kit to the price of just the drop in K&N and it's obviously more expensive. You're getting an air filter, inlet tube, clamps, etc. But you also still get more power from the aftermarket intake over the K&N drop in filter.
The K&N does work. I had one on my GT and noticed better gas mileage right away. The car also seemed to "breathe" a little better, and revved smoother. I liked it and was glad I put it in. The only thing was that I couldn't feel any of the power at all. I noticed a difference, but couldn't feel a difference.
So IMO, If you're about wanting to get more power out of your car from each mod, get a complete intake kit. If you're just looking for some cheap mods and want to spend as little as possible, get the K&N drop in.
Personally, I'd take the whole intake.
