Default More Newb Questions

I've already asked most of my questions in a few other threads, Thanks for all the input but I still want some more info. So i've decided I want an '04 GT or Mach 1. However, it appears that mach 1's are about 3,000$ more expensive on average. I plan to supercharge it within a year of buying, along with all the prerequisite mods too. I know that the mach 1 is going to be slightly faster than a stock gt, but I dont know if it is really worth the extra to start with a 4v engine. I understand both the gt and mach can handle about 400-450hp without internal mods, so I dont know.If I could get some input i'd greatly appreciate it.

On another note, my buddy is getting a 99 cobra, has exhaust and thats it, would a GT orMachwith exhaust and intake be faster? or would it be too close to really tell?

Here are my other posts, sorry if i'm annoying or redundant, but i'm new to the whole 4.6 community, I'm fairly knowledgeable about trucks, cars, and mustangs in general, but not so much with all the newer ones.

The first and easy part: The Mach will be even-ish if not beat the 99 Cobra. The GT will need more than exhaust and intake to keep up, add on gears/tuner TB/Plenum and DRs.

If you are for SURE going to be able to supercharge the car, then you'd be ok getting the GT IMO. If you are like the rest of us and think*you may be able to go with a supercharger at a later date, you probably won't- in which case get the Mach hands down.

The Mach will respond worlds better to simple bolt ons than the GT, and the Mach has better styling. But, like I said, if you are for sure going to go the blower route, both motors will get you the same HP limits, so if you are going to make the car 450 hp regardless, it'd be badass either way.

Assuming the Cobra has had "the fix" and he can tame the wheel hop it's a driver's race with a slight edge to the Mach. With a fewsuspension mods the Cobra will spank the Mach in the twisties though. For mostMustang guysthe Mach1 is the popular choice....

alright, thanks again for allthe input, I have one quick question though, is there any difference between the 03 and 04's? As far as I can tell they are identical but just want to make sure before I limit myself to only 04's

there really aren't any differences to my knowledge...I think the 04's had that mystic color package on a select number of cars, but other than that I think they are the same or darn close

i prefer the Mach 1 over a pretermie cobra only cause i dont see as many.. and its a 4 valve thats cheaper than a 99 cobra. the mach 1 will respond better to supercharging cause it has 4 valves, meaning you could push more out of it and i believe it has a forged crank? (correct me if im wrong) but youd still need to forge the rods and pistons if it does. id go for the mach 1 only cause they are a little more rare and i think at some point (maybe) they might be considered a collector car

yeah definately go with the mach...even though they can handle the same horse as a gt, it is still a better motor to build upon

what you put to the wheels on a mach 1 is the same as a full bolt on GT or close to it
