check engine
just got a 98 gt 4.6 convertible 5speedyesterday, and i've driven it home and put less than 100 miles on it; check engine light has already come on, so i'm probably going to return it to work. but, i've never owned a mustang before, my other car is a camaro but i thought i'd try out the fords at least. i know a check engine light could be one of abouttt 500 things, but is there anything anyone can suggest checking before i just return it because i think its a great car. its only got 38,000 miles on it and is in great condition, so the person took good care of it i'd assume. if i disconnected the battery for a while would it reset and turn the light off if everything checks out? its got a few modifications, but just the bolt-ons, like cold air, exhaust, and some gears but that shouldnt affect a check engine light... haven't put gas in it yet so its not the fuel cap. i'm hoping its just an o2 sensor, but theres no way to know unless i get it hooked up to a computer so another question is, does a place like advance or auto zone do that for free. let me know because i dont want to have to return this car within a week of buying it.... thanks in advance.
