Burnouts on drag raidals.
You should be able to launch on the MT's at 4000 rpm at least. There is no reason for a car that makes as much power as yours not to 60' at least in low 1.7's or high 1.6's. If I can cut a 1.5 on the MT's you can get a 1.7 easy. I do heat my MT's for about 5-7 seconds. Also adjust your side mirrors so you can see how much smoke is coming off the tires. I have also found that Nitto's and BFG's need a hard burnout.
i just got rid of my 275 nittos for some 315 m/t's and i'll tell you on a cold launch(no burnout) the m/t and nittosare like night and day! i could pull a 1.9 easy with no burnout on these new mickeys!
Nobody is saying that Nittos will hook better then the MTs... I think he was just suprised at the fact that the nittos hooked so well....
Really the only times you're going to get the most out of mickeys is on a high launch.. The problem with that, is if your rear end/clutch setup is stock - you may snap something. I know 2000 has a spec, not sure about his rear axle? If you launch both tires with proper setups at.. lets say... 4000... there won't be a huge difference, I would think less then a tenth on the 60" for the avg driver.
I have seen cars with Nitto tires pull out 1.7xx.. I was bogging my car with Nittos and got a 1.88. If you're launching with a stock rear axle, you're not going to see a HUGE benefit when looking at nittos vs mickeys pending you heat them correctly (the nittos of course).. maybe .1 tops I would say... If I can dump my cobra at 4k with the nittos, hook, then bog, then go. and grab a mid 1.8 I know a 1.7xx is possible with the tires. 1.7 isn't as good as a Mickeys 1.6, and im some cases the 1.5 like JD has shown... but I would put money on it, that most people can't do better then 1.70 on the mickeys and the same people will do low 1.8's on the nittos (street car racers).
Oh, and for someone with a stock GT... you will bog down and probably not get tire spin with either tire. When I had brand new nittos on mine... I roasted them quickly because i was showing everyone my traction.. I had a second of squeal then dead hook... and my car is probably in the neighborhood of 500+lb ft tor at around 2500 rpms...
The way I heat mine up... first gear burnout - holding steady at 4k until I see smoke from either side.

Ask Golden Eagle how Nitto's compare to ET Streets at the track. On a pretty good track, he was struggling to hit 2.0's on his nittos. On the same track, the same night, I was SPRAYING OFF THE LINE, on a 5000rpm clutch drop and I was cutting 1.7 60's easy. On Motor, dropping the clutch at 4000, it was bogging, but still hitting ~1.85's.
And these are just 26x11.50x16's on 16x9 Supra wheels.
BTW, and this was with a very minimal burnout. Barely smoking them. 17PSI

ZW- I think it's more of his inexperiance with the tires (no offense golden)... Like I said, I didn't do a burnout last time i was at the track because of lack of waterbox [:@]and I managed a 2.0x on completly cold tires... It's just a matter of heating them up nice.. and getting a good launch..
That bad could be track prep also... or driver error...
There is no reason a N/A Gt which should be making >300rwhp spinning the hell out ot 315 d/r - like I said i ran them ice cold to a 2.0x with my car (Ryan was there to witness it)..

I am just SCARRED That I am going to get a towing bill back to como (+2 hours) after I break my basically stock 8.8 (t/a girdle and 3.73).

Scott, so you are saying that if you launch at lower RPM's with the Nitto's you have better hook?

My entire point was that before, on the street, I never could leave above about 2000 RPM on the nittos. After trying a huge burnout, I was able to leave at 3000+ with the nittos on teh street and still get a good launch.
Obviously the MTs are far better tires. But on the street, where there is a definate limit to how much traction you are going to have, I don't think the MTs are that much better than the nittos. Once you get to a prepped surface the MTs are going to simply blow the nittos away, hands down.
