im on an almost stock automatic 4.slow liter 2v

my "mods" are k&n drop in with super 40s and a bbk o/r x

i kind of want to get a 75-100 shot and some tires for the winter to have some fun at the track with

what do i need? sct, tune?
how much will it cost?
how safe/dangerous is it?
any general things i should be concerned about?
the tires aren't a big deal, i work at a tire shop so ill just pick up some nitto DRs

i hear i can run 75 on stock tune and 100 with a hand held...but someone told me 100 on stock tune, but retard timing, i dont think i'd feel safe doing that, though

btw, i tried search and nothing came up [>:]

also, what kind of times should i be able to expect? last winter i was pulling consistent 14.0s on street tires with a best of 13.90

It's safe, it's effective, it's cheap(compared to other power adders). Thats about all you need to know. lol

Seriously tho, you will need a Wet kit. (I prefer NX, but I have heard nothing but good things about TNT) That will come with almost all hardware, some electronics and of course the bottle. It should have a wideopen throttle switch.

You DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THESE THINGS, but they can be very important.

1)window switch.
2)bottle warmer
3)purge
4)new plugs
etc................

Get a DYNO TUNE! with SCT or DIABLO software. That will give you great peice of mind that you know for sure the tune is right.

If there is one thing that you remember about what I said is GET A 15lb BOTTLE. 10 isnt enough.

window switch does it all right? i want to be able to control when the spray is on and off, RPMs because what happens if my auto pegs the rev limiter before it goes into second? (my transmission isnt that messed up, but you know?)

also, x cal is 400 bucks
dyno tune, we'll say 300?
nx kit like 600?

so about 1500 after all is said and done?

for another like 700 bucks i could get a blower, no?

nitrous is good though because its there when you want it, just sitting calmly in the trunk waiting to be sprayed. your not gonna find a complete blower set up for 2gs n e ways, and you get the same amount of power for the most part u put a 100 shot your sitting at wat 360? good enough for me

360 and about 450 ftlbs to the wheels. Go with the spray you wont be dissapointed. Like said above get a 15lb bottle. And performance wise i picked up 12 mph on my trap from the nitrous and longtubes.

You find someone that HAS or CAN put on a blower and run it safely with $2200 invested, I'll be more than impressed. You act like all those other things aren't needed to go boost? The Xcal2 AND the dyno tune will be needed either way man. Fuel components, MAF, etc.............

You give me a bone stock car with a Mongoose kit vs a bone stock GT with a NX 100 shot, and the N20 car will eat the S/C at the track.

But if you want it there all the time, and don't mind giving up a ton of torque, then you sound like a S/C guy to me.

^^my buddy found a used vortech kit for 1700, then put it on himself, well another one of my friends helped him - then he got a dyno tune and did everything for 2500, he already had the sct though, on a 8lb pulley he made 366hp and tq, but now hes getting a 10lb pulley and a re tune


how much would a nitrous set up run me?

im in the same boat you are and im thinking around $2000, but thats for EVERYTHING
-chip/tune
-nitrous express kit
-bottle warmer
-purge
-bottle opener
-and the window switch

580 for a kit, about 100 for a window switch which will allow you to set when the nitrous turns on and off and what gear, if you want a purge its around 100$ u can get a zex bottle warmer for about 120$ tuner for 350-400$ maby a tune for 250-300 and install would probly cost around 450-500$...so like mustang430 said..around 2k maby a lil less if you look around....and like zx99gt said...the a nitrous car will beat a supercgarged one anyday at the track and the tq is crazy!!!
