Default Time for a new shifter!?

Ok, well tonight i went to a car meet and on the way home me and 5.7 Gto decided to have some fun(dead road)! Well we had 3 races from a dig and each time he'd get me off the line, i stuck off the line when i do the 3 honks, but i'd start to pull on him and thenwhen it came time toshift(redline) my shifter would start being real stiff! I remember that on the 3rd run i even had to lift myself a bit and force it in to gear! Afterwards, while cruising there'd stillbe a random shift wereit was a little stiffto get in!So whats wrong with my shifter!? Time for a new one!?Or could it be something else!?

If its hard to pull out and put into gear thats ur syncros. I've heard some 3650's are prone to that kind of stuff happening anyways.

No it slides out of gear normal, its just really stiff going into gear close to red line, and this JUST started happening as of last night, because i've took that thing to red line a few times before and it wasnt as near as stiff!

It's not the shifter. All the shifter does it move the shift forks. It's the syncros. The cone in them is probably worn, so they don't line the gears up as easily. Since it's turning so quickly (at redline), the syncros aren't lining up ar accurately as before and the gears are harder to get into.

Just buy a new transmission, 99% if the time that will be cheaper.

+1

Taking the tranny out is a pain in the ***. Taking the actual tranny apart is 1000x worse. It's so time consuming. It'll probably be cheaper to get a TKO installed than it would be to re-build the 3650.

rather time consuming, but your only choice when your synchros are gone(besides fixing it). You hit redline in X gear, you hit the clutch, pull the shifter to neutral, release the clutch, then press the clutch again and slam into the next gear, with practice, it can be somewhat speedy. I know from experience in my old integra, the synchros were shot and I drove an integra so I was broke, that was the only way to speed shift.
