SHOCK AND SPRING INSTALL???
I'm going to install my eibach springs and pro damper shock & struts. I've done the front before on a friends GT but never touched the rear. I've heard its hard to bring down the rear control arm far enough to slip the spring in. Anotherperson who says he knows everything but has never done it!!! said " you wont have enough room to bring down the control arm when the car is sitting on jack stands. So stop ****ing around and pay a shop to do it." Any suggestions would help! thanks guys
just take the bolt that holds the rear control arms to the rear axle and you will have plenty of room. after that just take them back up and your all set
I just did mine last night front and rear H&R super race springs, tokico shocks/struts,and camber caster plates. It took about 6 hours. You dont have to remove the control arm bolts, just undo the shocks first and it will drop far enough if not just push down on the axle.
It is MUCH easier to take the anti-roll bar off completely (two bolts on each side) and then remove the lower control arm bolt at the axle (with a jack under it of course)--with the car up 8"-10" or more the control are will drop more than enough to release the springs.
I put my rear springs on without unbolting my control arms, but unbolting the control arms would have been easier. I just wasn't real confident on how to do it. Getting the new springs in with the isolators in place was a real PITA. In fact, I didn't get the drop I should have in the rear and I wonder if my isolators got out of place to cause it. If you leave your isolators out (Hint hint) I'd bet they'd slide right in, maybe with a little pursuasion.
Either way, do not pay a shop to do it.
