Default GEAR DEBATE AGAIN????

alright, im STILL having trouble deciding on what gear to go with? It all depends on if i ever decide to go with a blower or not? I mean, id like to get blown, but its alot of $$$$. My question is 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10? Im almost wondering about just getting bolt ons and 4.10s and leave it alone, but i know it doesnt work that way. What do you guys suggest i do?

4.10 with blower ftw. you dont build boost untill 3 grand so its like your driving n/a as long as you stay under that so you should be fine with the 4.10.

ok...but as soon as i hit boost, wont it just blaze the tires off?

i plan on having suspension work before the blower, by the way.

I would go with 3:73s and a blower, actually, that's what I am planning on doing. I already have the gears and they're still very highway friendly (2500rpm @ 80mph). I guess I would also depend on the blower you get. If you're planning on a twin-screw I'd stay away from 4:10s IMO. You still want to get some traction. However, if you're going with centrifugal where it takes longer to boost, having 4:10s wouldn't hurt and would help you out at lower rpm.

I have a vortech supercharger and just stuck in 3:73 it made a world of difference in my car and I have no problems everything runs good and I dont break the tires loose hardly at all. Once you get used to driving it you will feel it out but those gears changed the whole car the ride and everything. My car is also lowered.

GO HERE! A blower is not too expensive if you do it this way and install it yourself. Take a look.........

truly is not much difference between 4.10s and 3.73s is it only a couple of rpms. Do not fear the gear. I recommend 4.10s unless of course you are going w/ a KB. Centrifugal superchargers boost does not hit until 3000 + rpms. I would go with 4.10s and supercharger and believe many guys hear have this setup. I love my 4.10s for my DD.

Why not just get the gear you really want. I know you want 4.10s . Youve got a year or two before you get a blower. A lot can happen in that time span, you might change your mind, sell your car or whatever. If you do end up with the blower, the gears might be exactly what you want anyways. If not, at least you know and you can thenmake a better selection. So it might costs you a few hundred extra to do it this way, not that big ofdeal in the scope of things Especially if you've enjoyed the 4.10s for the year or two inbetween.
