Default Lowering this weekend

Im want to put my springs onthis weekend...
I dont want to spend a lot of money on my springs, do you think the dropzone springs will be ok? Im kind of worried about the 2" drop because my exhaust is pretty low already. I was thinking the eibach pro-kit would be good because its only 1.5" drop... but i dont want to spend that much money(Im cheap)

NEXT: I have searched but its not working for some reason.... WHAT is the BEST write up for lowering your car... and im not talking about jacking up the car and knocking the springs out with a hammer... the good, (safe) way to do it.

and LAST....I really dont have the money for X2 ball joints or bumpsteer kit, are those absolutely necessary?

If you do anything like Dropzone or Eibachs, you will want to put C&C plates on it. The only springs that I would consider to be ok without C&C plates are C springs, but they wont drop you a whole lot. Make sure you have the money to do it right, or don't do it yet. It will cost more if you have to buy new tires because you shreded up the ones you have by not doing the job right.

Oh, ok then, lower away! The Dropzones drop pretty far, if your exhaust hangs, then you're gonna get really close. Eibachs are a pretty decent drop. I have H&Rs on my Cobra and I love them.

Nah, don't think there is anything else, but I don't know how the suspension compares on the Cobra and the GT. The guy I bought it from did all that. I'll have to do it on my GT to get some experience with it.

SO you don't have to adjust your alighnment, Unbolt your struts from the two big bolts and don't even touch the shock tower......

Sorry, a lot of people when installing springs unbolt the top of the strut tower and pull down the strut... This DOES NOT need to happen. You may need an alighnment at some point anyway but why make yourself do it right away if you don't need too.

Lift your car and set it on a jack stand (frame)
Take the wheel off
Use your jack too apply lifting pressure to the lower control arm Lift it about 2 inches
Unbolt your sway bar end links (it helps if you lift one side at a time)
Take off your brake caliper and zip tie it to the side
As you look at your strut tower there will be two large bolts attaching the shaft of the strut to your spindles. (7/8 or 3/4 or something in that size) Unbolt them leaving in the bolts, sometimes you may have to play with the jack height in order to be able to "wiggle" the bolts out.
I normally start with the top bolt so I can angle the spindle to play with it.
After both are out, lower the jack slowly.
You should be able to take the jack out Then it's a matter of leverage, Some kick the control arm (CA), I like to use a pry bar Then after your CA is extended, pry out the spring from the bottom. "
IT WONT HURT YOU OR KILL YOU"
Pull it out and replace in opposite order

Hope it helps

Mike

If you do it this way you don't even have to open your hood... I do this all the time and it's the most time efficient way.
