Default frame issues

Had my tranny go at the drags and when the tranny was removed I got a phone call from my mechanic. He said that my frame was rotten. The frame is rotted on the front inside going over the front wheels. Has anyone else had this issue with their car? mines a 96. if so is there any way to prevent this from happening again. it is being repaired but i dont want it to happen again cause the motor has to be removed in order to fix it. thanks

Well is sounds like it rusted through. But if you've got the motor out time for some LT headers and maybe some cams & springs!

it is rotted its about an 8 inch section on both sides. i went to the shop and saw the holes for myself before i had him do anything. the mechanic is really good and would not over charge me. ivfe spent about 10 grand between my 2 mustangs with him. the frame work is costing me 700 with the R and R of the motor and the frame repair. as for mods, ive already had my heads reworked a new cam, direct drive timing etc. next is a charger or a turbo unsure which one yet

huh that sucks. i would get everything coated under there or something while its in the shop. Good preventative measure for anyone. Not sure of any brands off hand, but i know there are plenty of them.

I don't see whats hard to believe, it's either rusted or it's not, and you fix it right or you don't.

My self personally I would take and sell the car and find a rust free one.
