My friend has a bone stock 97 Cobra, and all he does is talk it up... I hear that 97's are the slowest year cobra made?... Is there any chance of me beating him?

 

They're not the slowest Cobra's made. '93-'95 are slow. If you're a great driver and he's a less than average driver you could take him. Once you get those gears it will be easier for you to beat him.

 

97's aren't bad at all, but they aren't anything great either. from what i've read on here PI GT's can hand it to em with a few mods, or even a driver mod if it goes well in their favor

 

I could be wrong, but I though 96-98 cobras were rated at 305 hp? You'll need gears and bolt-ons for sure... well unless he can't drive.

 

I would say w/ equal drivers, he has the advantage. You have mods that cut a bit into that advantage. If you have the driver mod and he doesnt, you might be able to pull it off. It is his race to lose.

Stock for stock the Cobra will put a hurtin' on a 99-04 GT. A couple mods to the GT and it'll be a drivers race.

However, once the Cobra has a few modifications it's a whole new battle.

97's aren't the slowest Cobras either.
