the stock rear end is a piece of crap, a lot of F bodys (including mine) have switched to a 9 inch, a lot of guys also get 12 bolts (seems more popular with the auto transmission crew)

tranny and rearend-wise how do camaro's and T/A's drivetrain compare to ours?
Rearends suck, their transmissions are better.
I don't know if the v6 01 firechicken have the same rear as the v8 counter part. My buddy did a neutral drop trying to race me and his rear end took runny black oil **** on the street... If a v6 can break the rear I'd have to say they suck too! lol

They are crap. A track buddy of mine has been through three stock rear ends. I know a couple of people that bought the Moser rear end though and have ran some pretty impressive numbers with no problems.

first launch on MTs + camaro/firebird rear = boom (bang or destruction could be substituted).

Myself, and JD1969, have went countless 1.5-1.7's on the stock rearend. Granted we're both auto's. I was running Nitto's and I think he ran BFG's.

I now have an 8.8" rearend and I think he's still going mid 11's on the stock one.

But yes, the factory 10 bolt is the weakest link.

Yeah, it was because my buddies that person that talks a lot of ****... He was razzing me about how his v6 was faster than my v8. My car stock made about 180hp to the wheels and pulled a 15.7 on stock tires and he swore his car was faster than that. (even though, he never took it to the track.) Well, I gave him the chance, lol. And, I had to fit his fat *** GF, her sister (who was kinda hot, who I later boned) and him all the way back to his mommy's house. Then he had to tell his "mommy" that he broke his car and didn't have the money to tow it home. He's the kid that when he gets embarrased his face turns beet red and his ears turn almost purple. It was like watching a cartoon that night! lol Then later it was like watching a ****...lol

I was with my ex gf in a Rental 07 Mustang 4.0 V-6 and pulled up next to a riced out V-6 firechicken with a big ol bomber muffler and the works and the kid looks over and laughs and im like Dude this is a rental. Im not afraid to beat it to the ground. lol. But needless to say the rental stang beat his firebird. Haha good times. But first i decided to install the air filter delete kit on the rental stang

Actually, they do have 10 bolt rears. There are two series of rears for f-bodies, one is a 7.5 inch and the other is a 7.65inch. The difference in the two is ring gear thickness. I have had the pleasure of rebuilding the rear on my recently sold Z28 twice. They suck, period. The 4l60e trans is no picnic either. I burnt up two of them and finally upgraded to a performabuilt. The 6spds are supposed to be good transmissions, but there again the rear suffers more from high rpm launches.

they don't have a "10 bolt" rear end.. even if the 7.5 has 10 bolts, the 10 bolt rear end is full size rear end..
