Lincoln Mark VIII Engine
Hey everyone i was thinking about finding a DOHC engine from a Lincoln since i cant find a cobra unless its being sold for way more than its worth. But i was wondering what i would have to do to put it in like would i need a new computer and stuff like that? Would it be worth it?
Thanks
Thanks
i found a cheap mark8 motor here (couple hundred bucks) and i looked everywhere to try to find out what it would take to swap that motor in. i couldnt come up with anything of real use. i read about more negative stuff than positives. i cant tell you what all is involved cuz i couldnt even find it for myself after a few hours on google, but from what i read/was toldthe swap isnt really worth it (the lincoln motors arent built as strong as the cobra motors they use fairly cheap parts because they are in a luxury car...they didnt come in a mustang that was semi expected to be hammered on). they dont put down nearly the same numbers as a cobra 4v either, they only put down about 260hp 260tq at the crank (give or take i dont know the exact specs you can look it up if you want to but the cobra numberseven in 98 are better)
my logic was...if it was really a worthy swap and not too expensive to do...it would be well known. i was only able to find a couple people that successfully did the swap from posts back in like 2004.
i would just find a 99+ 2v motor if yours is almost shot, you can get one for a grand or less in good shape and that would be far less of a headache. if yours is still running strong do a PI swap.
