installing s/c
Its not hard at all, its just a bolt on. I have installed them in under 5 hours (including beer runs and wendys run). The hard part is the oil pan. Procharger for the win I can slap that puppy on in about 4 hours.
its not hard at all the tap is only never wrecking... just take you time and do as the manual says very easy.... to me the hardest part is getting the belt on and lined up but that is easy too.
You don't need special tools to install a SC just a basic socket set.
You can tap oil pan its not that hard really its just awkward (spelling) and time consuming. The best way to do it is to take a punch and make the hole, then grease the crap out of the tap and fun it half way. Clean the hole and the tap and regrease the tap. Then run it all the way through. Clean the hole and tap again regrease and run it through again. Clean the hole then drain the oil. Take about 8 qts of the cheapest oil you can buy and dump it in. rock the car back and and drain the oil again. Then just hook up the lines fill with good oil and your all set.

So far as the supercharger install iteself the vortech manual is a very good one, it pretty much details everything you need to do. you just need to GO SLOW and pay attention to the manual. I spent probably 30 minutes trying to figure out stuf funtil I realised I was in the 96-98 section of the manual.
So far as the tapping, it is NOT a big deal. Here is precisly what to do:
First you get the blower etc all hung and then lay the line down where you want it. It doens't have to be perfect because its not a metal line, it has rubber/flex hose on it so you can be off a bit. Mark the spot where you want it to be tapped.
Next, take a starter punch and start the hole. Then you will need a large tapered punch and a micrometer. The manual will tell you what size hole you need (if it doesn't the tap size will tell you, usually right on the tap). Measure the tapered punch with the micrometer and find the correct size. Use a marker (sharpie) and mark all the way around the tapered punch so you can see it from every angle.
The punch I got was too big, so I also had to saw off part of the fat end to get it lined up under the car. use a hammer and gently tap the punch in until you are up to the line you made. You now have the perfect size hole for your tap.
LIBERALLY grease (with heavy axle grease) the tap and tap the hole. If it starts to get hard to turn then remove the tap, clean it all off, and start over. Afterwards, change the engine oil. I acutally put about 2 extra quarts in the engine and then drained the entire thing to just make sure, but I never saw anything come out other than oil.
Its easy, and if you do it this way you have a nice deep threaded hole to work with. After I gotall the things I needed it didn;t take 10 minutes todo.
