Max HP or boost for stock block
I have asked this question to a bunch of people and even on this forum and I can't get a straight answer anywhere. How much boost/hp can a stock 4.6 hold? I want to know for regular 2v, 4v, ironblock 4v, 3v. I know that the blocks for the 2v and the 4v and the 3v are all aluminum but some people try to tell me thatjust because it is a 4v the block can somehow handle more power. If that is true can you also explain why? No offense to anybody but I don't want people who heard from a friend or know somebody who knows somebody with 1,000,000 hp on the stock block, I want the guys whohave a blower to give me their numbers and what they havebeen told by the shops that tuned their car.
well my friend that lives a few hours away says......sike. I know what they say about the "average stock shortblock" is like 430rwhp and 9psi but right now i am runnin 10 psi and 470rwhp and 480ishtq and the motor has been fine since april and i get into boost at least a little almsot every gear and redline quite a few times a week
im pretty sure the block itself is good for around 600. the internals are supposed to hold about 450rwhp but most people are safe and stick with 420ishrwhp. but there are plenty of guys running way more the 420rwhp on stock internals. i know u dont want to hear this, but there is a guy whos makin 550 or somethin with a turbo set up and has a stock block with stock internals. many people say its all in the tune.
i wouldnt ask about the block as about either the SHORTBLOCK or the rotating assembly, our blocks can handle plenty of power but its the crank, rods, and pistons you have to worry about.
I know for a fact that will hold over 1000... go to harrisracing.com or mustangperformance.com , they used to have a few of them listed... but this is not much of a subject for debate, the blocks themselves are good for substantial power... The aluminum blocks aren't really going to be hold any more power.. they just tend to do it more safely in our case, because they can disipate the better, generally a teksid could upwards of 1500 with some conditioning treatments.. but you the truth of the matter is that if yoru making that kind of power your breaking it down, rebuiliding it and blowing it up all the time.. I think some people get this idea that you can do all this stuff and have 1500 hp daily driver, its not realistic. So basically the block will hold whatever your going want to get out of it
