Default Why I should have bought STOCK used

Not sure if this is the correct place to vent about this, but 2/2007 I purchased a 02' GT 5-speed. I shouldn't have listened to the girlfriend because I had doubts about the car being modified and possibly ragged on from time to time, but I splurged anyways.

I knew from the start the large windshield tint strip would have to go and I HATED the cue-ball white shift handle. I got the Ford Racing 5-speed leather **** and spent several days pulling the tint strip. Ahh, much better... that is until a sunny day finally showed up to reveal the passenger side window tint did not match the rest of the car. Upon further investigation I discovered the passenger door was a replacement window... off to have the window re-tinted. Perfect... until the rear window tint began to bubble after using the rear defrost over the course of a few months... off to the tint shop again.

I discovered a previous owner put in a drop-in K&N but evidently never cleaned it or re-oiled it. I did so and replaced only to find the gasket stuck to the OEM housing. I ripped it out and put in the FIPK so that's better now. After nearly a year I'm getting tired of the gurgly exhaust and discovered it has a BBK X-pipe and Lord knows what else underneath. Now it appears that instead of simply ordering a MAC OR/H and bolting it on I'm going to have to take it to a shop and have them do some cutting and welding.

My lesson learned here: start with a clean slate and customize it to your own liking. It is probably going to cost more long-term to have to re-do what someone else half-assed in the first place than to just get it right myself the first time.

u scared me. i thought it was going to be some crazy SH*T!! but seriously, that stuff doesnt sound too bad to me. some people buy cars and have to spend 3K in reperations. FOR EXAMPLE: some guy bought a S/C 2001 cobra only to find out that 3 days later when he was driving, white smoke was fuming outta the exhaust... COMPRESSION = BAD... i believe it was like a $3,000 fix. so when you think you have it bad, jsut think of how somebody always has it worse...

ALL in ALL, you got a brand new CAI, a new tint-job, a nice shift ****, and a new mid-pipe!!!! thats not that much money spent on new parts...

Man thats nothing come back when you have a real problem. Here you go

A couple years ago when I was young and dumb I bought a junkermazda 4 banger to save on gas and wear&tear on my hotrodfor $300 and on the drive home it blow the trans.
so I brought it to a tranny shop to have them rebuild it,and as they were pulling apart they broke the block cause the trans was stuck to the block. And then they did not call me for 3 weeks. When they called they said you need a new motor to.
So I told them just put it all in the car and come get it.And I had to pay them $700 for the crap they did.

So I went and bought a used motor and trans. and put it in myself, which is what I did not want to do in the first place.
After all thats said and done I was out just over $3000,then 10,000 miles later the trans blows up again so I said F*** it and junked the car which is what I should have done in the fisrt place.

You live and learn
