Default explorer motor

Is it exactly the same as the mustang motor except for the explorer motor being an aluminum block? One of my friends told me that the compression would be different. And also would I need the explorer computer or would it work with the mustang computer?

the expeditions have the 5.4 i believe but the new explorers have a v8 version i believe the older ones do as well, but explorers and sport tracs can come with the 4.6L 3v motor =D its pretty fun. i used to work at a ford dealership.

Same motor except block is aluminum. Romeo block, PI heads casting is 1LE something. Bolt in. I bought 2 when they were still cheap < 900 bucks.

the 99-00 timing covers will bolt right up (read Windsor) The romeo cover will fit but I think you have to enlarge a couple holes for the 10mm bolts and one needs seal in the block with RTV.
