Default Is it possible?

Alright guys (and girls), I am currently running a procharger P1sc @ 10lbs w/all the supporting fuel mods, and full MAC exhaust. I know my next step before I try and make any more power is getting a forged shortblock. My power goals are a reliable 450-500rwhp stang. Of course I want to do things with a budget in mind as I am no millionaire, so is it possible to make my goal if I were to forge the shortblock keep the stock heads, but getsetof blower cams, change the intakeand up the boost? How much boost would I need? Keep in mind that I do have an auto tranny as well, but am willing to change that if it can't handle it. Does anybody have this setup or know someone who has tried it?

I am currently putting down 385rwhp and 380rwtq on a mustang dyno. Oh and I forgot to mention that I am also running the stock TB/plenum.

well so basically you want to keep your current setup, add a forged shortblock. if you want to do some nice blower cams you can expect anywhere from 30-40rwhp. so say youre in the 420rwhp range. i would just throw on a smaller pulley with that built block and youd be sitting right where you want to be in the 450-470range.

Or if you didn't want to run more boost (which i dont know why not), then like said you could always add a throttle body/plenum combo. you wont pick up THAT much though for the money you'll spend.

if you are going to do all that work i would save up a little more and go ahead and get your heads P&P while putting the new block in.

I would do that, but I don't think there are any reputable machine shops in my area, so I would have to order some from Fox lake or Patriot Performance. Maybe if I were to do the TB/plenum, blower cams, and of course more boost? Thanks for the replys guys its very helpful.

well, i'll tell you right now that you're going to need forged internals if you want to stay safe the stock connecting rods are crap, you'd be ok with a cobra crankshaft and the forged h-beams, pistons, ect. from where-ever you want. It shouldn't cost too much, but it'll save you a lot of hassle down the road.

You'd be ok with the stock heads but if you do get better heads you'll see better performance

450-500 should be easily made by a shortblocked/cammed/full bolton 2v. MPH has cars making 550+ on the stock heads and intake.
