colder plug more threads?

ok so i bought some autolight 103's and they have more threads on them is this how it should be?

More threads = less chance of spark plug being blown out of the head! This is not a bad thing. You probably already know but change the plugs only when the heads are cold and torque to spec (do not overtighten or undertighten for that matter).

Its also helpful to use some PVC hose to line all the threads up correctly. Just thought I'd throw that in.

from the tip to the spark plug seat should be the same length.

This has nothing to do with why its a colder plug. The way the insulator is made is what determins the heat range of the plug. It does actually mean how "hot" the plug gets, not how much fire it produces.

that what i kinda thought the amount of plug in the head is the same. thanks for the help.

Ford updated the heads from short threads to longer threads to solve the blow out issue. Those plugs are just a "universal" plug. You can put a longer thread plug in ALL heads, but you cannot put a shorter thread plug in longer thread heads! Your fine.
