Default brakes

So if any of you guys thought that you had it bad when you have to pay for maitenence stuff for your car, you have absolutely no idea. I just had to order brake pads, for an eight month old brake system mind you, and I almost fainted. The sad part about all of this is that I do alright, and since my grandfather owns a dealership here in town, I get 40% off on every part that I buy. I believe I just spent $389.50 for brake pads on all four corners.

After this I decided to put the car in storage in a few months, I can't afford to do this every eight months, even though I think its well worth it, and I love the car, 400 dollars is a little much to be spending every eight months, thats about 1600 dollars every two years. Like I said, I totally think its worth it, I just dont think I can justify spending that and only drive the car 9,000 miles. If anyone wants to trade brake systems, Im all for it

I dont understand how you guys do it, I mean I love my car and all, but I have a hard time spending that kind of money (and most of the work on the car is already done)

WTF kind of brakes do you have that they cost almost $400 just for pads? You must have Brembos or something.

Oh BTW, I gotta bridge to sell, if interested send me a PM. JK
Seriously I hoped you looked around before you dropped that kind of $$$$.

Well with high end brakes like those, you really don't have a choice but to buy the pads for them. You kind of dug your own grave for putting a brake system like that on.

I didn't put it on, the previous owner did, and only last febuary, which is one of the reasons I'm going to put in storage or something, or see if I can't find some stock brakes, or something to save some money.

Definately, I looked everywhere in town to find the pads at a better price, but like Xemeth said, I can't use anything other than Baer Pads with this system, and I was even getting a 40% discount on the retail price of the pads, so I can't complain as much as if I had to pay that much. If I hadn't gotton the discount, I would have paid over 500 for the pads, so Im glad I got off paying as little as I did.

When I bought the car, it was pretty much completely built, The previous owners (original owner too) had spent near $24,000 in parts alone, and I got the car for a mere $12,000 and have only had to have ford replace the manifold, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me, I just felt like bitching a little about it, not really the biggest deal

id recomend you go to a junkyard and get some stock disks and calipers. Heck, even if you bought them at auto zone or something, they would probably be cheaper than what you are paying for break pads alone. Once you know how, its not that hard to switch them in and out, then when you really need to compete you have your high performace brakes, and when your just cruizin, you have your stock brakes to slow you down.

On the other hand, if you are not competing, there is no shame in downgrading for the sake of drivability. Do you really need to stop on a dime when a quarter will do?

btw your rear bumbper looks freekin cool. I havent seen that combo done up before.
