You can usually find them at any parts store on some models however really doesnt help you much unless you have a blower or some serious mods. because your pcm from factory is set to run at certain temps. and actually it could make your car run worse IMO Fuel burns better when hot!

I think its recomended because of the amount of air and fuel is increased with supercharging and a slightly lower temp. will ensure that the fuel doesnt overheat due to increased combustion! Just a guess...

the most a lower thermostat will do is provide a little more insurance when it comes to overheating, there is no hp gain or direct benefit from havig one for a street car. the only computer function affected would be your engine temp guage, which will look like it runs colder than normal. going so low as 160* stat will affect performance because the engine will continue to run at its warm-up stage which implements more fuel, you'll run a little rich which can affect other systems. in reality, running cooler (more dense) air and fuel will help performance on minute scales, after all, heat is inefficency and loss of power.
seths96gt - hotter fuel only increases mpg, not power
35thanni99gt - i wouldnt run more timing, while the temp the stat opens will be lower, the actual combustion temp will not vary great enough to advance timing. however if u want to persue it, talk to a local shop about bumping up a degree or two
